The best way to visit the Cinque Terre National Park is by train.

From March until November the local trains Cinque Terre Express running every 20 minutes and stop in Levanto, Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore and La Spezia.

You can buy one-way train tickets and the Cinque Terre Train Card at every train station in Levanto, La Spezia and in every Cinque Terre villages, or online: Cinque Terre Train Card.

Remember to validate your ticket at the green stamp machine located in the stairs on the way to the platform.

Cinque Terre Express trains operate every 20 minutes, connecting the picturesque Cinque Terre villages and making stops in Levanto, Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore, and La Spezia.
Enjoy the speedy service that runs frequently from early morning until late evening.

This train service operates from March 15 through November 2, 2025. Additionally, during the winter months, trains are scheduled to run once or twice every hour between the five villages.

Categories & Prices
The fare for traveling between any two stations varies depending on the time of your visit (low, medium, or peak season) and ranges from 5 to 10 euros for adults using the Cinque Terre Express. Additionally, children between the ages of 4 and 11 enjoy a generous 50% discount on their tickets.

Within the park, the ATC Esercizio tariff system is in effect, and the "Cinque Terre Card" allows for the use of sustainable transport within the Park.

It is important to note that the service is included in the Cinque Terre Card.

+ The bus service does not provide connections between different towns, and the Cinque Terre Card is not valid on buses in La Spezia and Portovenere.

The Cinque Terre Express runs with a frequency of about one train every 15-20 minutes. In winter, from November to the end of March, when the Cinque Terre Express is not in operation, regular regional trains provide service along the Cinque Terre route.
How to validate a paper train ticket?
All paper tickets purchased at the station must always be validated before boarding the train at the designated green validation machines located inside the stations and in the underpasses. 
Failure or incorrect validation of the ticket - In cases where ticket validation is required, a passenger found during the journey or upon arrival with a non-validated ticket will be charged a fine of €200. If payment is made within 15 days from the date of the notice, the amount is reduced to €100. If the passenger agrees to pay the amount due immediately to the train staff, the fine is reduced to €50.
What is the most beautiful of the 5 lands?

Are there trains to the Cinque Terre during the low season?
On the Levanto - Cinque Terre - La Spezia railway line, a convenient regional train service operates throughout the year, featuring trains that run approximately every hour. This service offers visitors the perfect opportunity to discover all five picturesque villages.
During the low season, which runs from November 3 to March 13, the daily Cinque Terre Card for adults is priced at 14.80 euros, while children pay only 8.50 euros. One-way train fares vary between 2.50 euros and 3.80 euros, based on the selected route. Both the Cinque Terre Card and train tickets can conveniently be purchased at any train station, using ticket machines, or via online platforms.
Can you travel by train with a dog?
Small pets like dogs, cats, and other small domestic animals can travel for free on trains if they are in a carrier of maximum dimensions 70x30x50 cm.
All dogs (outside the carrier) are allowed to travel on trains while leashed and muzzled by purchasing a ticket:
- On regional trains by purchasing a discounted ticket (half the price of a regular fare).
- On regional trains by purchasing a "Cinque Terre Card Train" ticket at the CHILD rate.
Remember that to travel on trains with your dog, you must bring with you the dog registration certificate and your dog's health booklet. Guide dogs for blind persons travel for free on trains without any obligations.
