Is it Necessary to Purchase a Cinque Terre Treno MS Card?

While it is not mandatory to buy the card, it is highly recommended for those who plan to travel by train between the villages during their visit. The necessity of a Cinque Terre Train Card depends on the number of train journeys you intend to make between the villages. If you plan to use the train at least twice in one day and also wish to hike one of the paid coastal paths, it is advisable to purchase a Cinque Terre Treno MS Card. This card also helps you avoid lengthy queues for train tickets during the busy summer months.

Why is There a Charge for the Footpaths?
We strongly recommend purchasing the Cinque Terre Card.
The revenue generated from card sales is reinvested into the National Park for the upkeep of the hiking trails. This maintenance ensures that the National Park remains in excellent condition for your visit. Cinque Terre in Winter During the off-season, from November 4 to March 14, all hiking trails, with the exception of Via dell'Amore, are free of charge. Trains continue to operate during this period.
